Look Again at What You Keep

Painterly illustration of a bedroom sideboard with a white Lego orchid displayed among personal objects in a warm, lived-in interior.

We stop seeing the things we live with every day.

They stand on shelves, sit beside books or wait quietly on a sideboard. We pass them so often that they become part of the room rather than something we consciously notice.

But many of these objects are still there for a reason.

Why This One Stayed

On my bedroom sideboard stands a Lego orchid. It was given to me for Mother’s Day.

It does not need water and it will not change with the seasons. But somebody chose it, built it and gave it to me. That is what I see when I remember to look at it properly.

Not everything we keep is valuable in the usual sense. Some things stay because they hold a person, a place or a particular moment in our lives.

Their meaning is private. It does not need to be explained to anyone else.

Look Again

Today, choose one object in your home that you usually pass without noticing.

Look at it properly.

Why is it still there? Who gave it to you? Where did you find it? What part of your life does it quietly contain?

You do not need to photograph it, organise it or turn it into anything productive.

Just remember why you kept it.

Sometimes attention is enough to return something to us.

Rooted in Depth. Radiating Light.
