Take the Same Street Twice

A quiet ochre-coloured street on the Côte d’Azur, seen through a shaded arch in the warm afternoon light.

When we arrive somewhere new, we often feel we should see as much as possible. Another street, another restaurant, another view.

But a place begins to mean something when we return.

How familiarity begins

Take the same street twice. Go back to the café where you had your first coffee. Notice which windows are open in the morning, where the light falls in the afternoon, who sits at the same table every day.

The second time, you already recognise something. By the third, you may be recognised too.

This is how a foreign place slowly becomes familiar: through attention, repetition and the small pleasure of knowing where you are going.

You do not need to belong everywhere you visit. Sometimes it is enough to stop merely passing through.

Rooted in Depth. Radiating Light.
